The question never asked

Sometimes the Hardest Part Is Simply Speaking

There’s another reason we don’t ask the question.

Sometimes we know exactly what we want to say. We even rehearse it silently in our heads. But somewhere between our brain and our mouth, courage takes an unscheduled coffee break.

What if this is a stupid question?

What if everyone else already knows?

What if I interrupt?

What if I’m wrong?

So we wait.

And sometimes the meeting ends before we ever say a word.

This idea is very close to my heart, and it is something I explore much more deeply in my next book, Speak Up to Stand Out, coming in early 2027.

The book isn’t about becoming the loudest person in the room. Quite the opposite. It’s about finding the confidence to use your voice when your voice matters, whether that means asking the uncomfortable question, challenging an assumption, sharing an idea, admitting you don’t understand, or simply saying, “I have something to add.”

Because sometimes the question you are afraid to ask is the very question the room needs someone to ask.

More on the book as we get closer to publication.

For now?

If that little voice inside you says, “Should I ask?”

Maybe Tuesday is the day you answer:

Yes.
