Training Shouldn’t End When the Class Does

We have all done it.

We take a class. We attend a webinar. We scribble furiously in a notebook, highlight half the handout, download three resources and think:

I am absolutely going to use this.

Then Monday happens.

The inbox explodes. Someone schedules a meeting that should have been an email. A deadline suddenly develops teeth. And that brilliant thing we learned?

It quietly moves into a folder called I'll Get Back to This.

Sometimes permanently.

That is one of the reasons we created LG3.

Because learning isn't supposed to end when someone says, "Thank you for attending."

That's where it is supposed to begin.

Learn It.

Good training gives you knowledge.

It explains the concept, strips away the unnecessary jargon and helps you understand not only what something is, but why it matters.

But knowledge alone doesn't change much.

Knowing how to exercise doesn't make me fit.

Knowing how to play the piano doesn't make me Billy Joel.

And knowing how to identify a risk doesn't mean I've actually done anything about it.

There has to be another step.

Grow With It.

This is where learning starts becoming useful.

Take the concept back to your desk.

Try it.

Challenge it.

Adapt it.

Ask yourself:

Where does this show up in my organization?

What could I do differently tomorrow because I know this today?

Who else needs to know this?

That's growth.

And sometimes it isn't dramatic.

You don't need to emerge from every webinar with fireworks exploding behind you and a completely transformed career.

Sometimes growth is simply asking one better question in tomorrow's meeting.

That's enough.

Because one better question can lead to one better conversation.

And one better conversation can lead somewhere extraordinary.

Own It.

This is the part I love.

Eventually, what you learned stops feeling like something somebody taught you.

It becomes something you know how to do.

You adapt it to your world.

You develop your own examples.

You explain it to somebody else.

You improve it.

You own it.

And suddenly you aren't simply collecting CPE hours, certificates or courses.

You're building capability.

That difference matters enormously to us at LG3.

We don't want you to finish one of our courses thinking:

"Well, that was interesting."

We want you thinking:

"Right. What am I going to do with this?"

Because the real value of training isn't measured by what happens during the hour you're sitting in the class.

It's measured by what happens afterward.

And that philosophy is going to be at the heart of something we've been quietly building behind the scenes.

Well...

Maybe not quite so quietly anymore.
